PRE OR AFTER PERFOMANCE / COMPETITION SESSIONSMassage is an effective preventive measure for reducing stress in horses or dogs, especially during competitions and after prolonged transportation.
Before competitions, lighter and more superficial massage techniques are typically used to avoid causing excessive muscle fatigue.
AFTER TRANSPIRATION SESSIONSRestricted movement, constant vibrational stress, and the need to maintain balance for extended periods lead to muscle fatigue and stiffness, nervous system exhaustion, and a decrease in energy levels.
Depending on the positioning of horses within the transporter—facing forward, backward, or diagonally—compensatory mechanisms develop in the musculoskeletal system, contributing to muscle and ligament fatigue. If the horse already has balance issues, prolonged transport can exacerbate them.
After transportation, general or fascial massage is applied depending on the indications and observed balance issues in the musculoskeletal system.
